Turesa Lewis, Chapter President
To be part of an organization that has been helping in local communities for nearly 100 years.
You may not know it but just in the past year the AT&T Pioneers led the collection of more than 50,000 pounds of food in a company wide food drive benefiting Share Our Strength.
We are also part of a Cell Phone Recycling Campaign where we collected over 25,000 cell phones that helped support Cell Phones for Soldiers.
AT&T Aspire is another important initiative for us. Bringing 100,000 high school students to AT&T work-places through the Job Shadow initiative.
Tools for Learning 2014
2014 marks the 14th consecutive year that the AT&T Pioneers have participated in the ‘Tools for Learning” campaign across the state of Michigan, filling 2,000 backpacks with supplies to be donated to local community schools. The program is to help assure that hundreds of school children, whose families need help, have the supplies they need to start the school year .
This year students from the following schools received backpacks;
Maple Leaf Elementary School in Sterling Heights, Patton Elementary School in Roseville, Michigan School of Arts in Pontiac, Ubly School in Saginaw, additional backpacks were presented to students in Bay City.
The backpacks, were stuffed with supplies including folders, paper, pencils and other school supplies. The AT&T employees donated supplies as well as the needed funds to purchase supplies to assure the students had the tools needed in each backpack. One hundred plus volunteer hours were spent to shop for supplies, stuff the backpacks, storing them and loading them for distribution. State officials were avilable to assist with some presentations. Thanks to the AT&T Pioneers and the employees from across the state to make this another successful year.
