It’s Spring and the Illinois Pioneers are in full bloom. A recent service project took place at Deborah’s House in Chicago. Paula Baker (Illinois Central Council President) was the lead for this project that took place on May 20th, 2014. Seven helpful and committed Illinois Central Council Pioneers volunteers and Blue (our first honorary canine member) met at Deborah’s Place. Our goal was to clean the grounds and plant flowers in an effort to brighten the day of the women living at Deborah’s Place.
“It was a real treat for Jordan Truchan (AT&T Michigan Avenue Flagship Store) to bring his dog along to volunteer. It was great having a pet come and connect with everyone. Blue engaged many of the women, and basked in the shade as we planted and clean hedges. It was truly an extraordinary experience for the women at Deborah’s Place, and for our AT&T Pioneers volunteers.” – Paula Baker
